LAHORE: Pakistan’s all-rounder Imad Wasim has once again announced to retire from international cricket.
Taking to social media, the seasoned all-rounder bid farewell to international cricket after being absent in the green jersey since the T20 World Cup this year.
“To all fans and supporters: After much thought and reflection, I have decided to retire from international cricket,” he posted.
Reflecting on his journey with the green jersey, the left-handed batter called it the “greatest honour” of his life.
“Representing Pakistan on the world stage has been the greatest honour of my life, and every moment wearing the green jersey has been unforgettable,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to his fans for supporting him unconditionally through thick and thin throughout his career.
“Your unwavering support, love, and passion have always been my biggest strength. From the highs to the lows, your encouragement has pushed me to give my best for our beloved country,” he added.
Imad clarified that he will continue to play domestic and franchise cricket.
“While this chapter comes to an end, I look forward to continuing my journey in cricket through domestic and franchise cricket, and I hope to keep entertaining you all in new ways,” Imad clarified.
Earlier this year, after the emphasis from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the 35-year-old reversed his retirement decision ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024.
In the mega event, he scored just 19 runs in two innings and bagged three wickets in three games.
Overall, he represented Pakistan in 75 T20Is and 55 ODIs in which he scored a total of 1540 runs, including six half-centuries, and picked up 117 wickets.
