LAHORE: Pakistan’s young wrestler Hasan Ali Bhola secured a gold medal in the wrestling event of the Children of Asia Games currently underway in Yakutsk, Russia.

Bhola, the sole Pakistani wrestler participating in the Games, displayed exceptional talent throughout the competition. He defeated wrestlers from Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, and Mongolia in convincing fashion to reach the final. In the final bout, he emerged victorious against two Kyrgyz wrestlers, winning by a score of 8-2.

The victory sparked jubilation within the Pakistan Wrestling Federation. President Abdul Mubeen and Senior Vice President Arshad Sattar, who is also the President of the Punjab Wrestling Association, extended their heartfelt congratulations to Bhola and his coach, Ghulam Fareed.

Yakutia is the largest administrative-territorial unit in the world and the largest region of the Russian Federation. Capital of the republic – Yakutsk - is the largest city on permafrost. It was in Yakutsk back in 1996 that the Children of Asia Games were held for the first time. They were held in honor of the 100th anniversary of the modern Olympic movement and promote its original values: mutual respect, friendship, personal development.

In 2024, the 8th Children of Asia International Sports Games returned to their birthplace and are held in Yakutsk.
