KARACHI: Safi Ullah’s brilliant bowling figures of 4/17 and 2/25 led Malir Malangs to a thumping 10-wicket victory over DHA Dabangs in the sixth match of the Karachi Tape Ball Premier League (KTPL) Season 4 here at Moin Khan Academy on Tuesday.

Put into bat first, the Dabangs only managed to accumulate 55 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted six overs as Safi Ullah dismantled their batting line-up with a four-wicket haul.

The right-arm pacer dismissed opener Arsalan Jamshed (six) in his first overs before taking three wickets in his next over for and gave away just one to round off brilliant figures of 4/17.

His bowling exploits was supported by Majid Ali, who took three wickets, helping the Malangs to restrict Dabangs for a modest total.

In response, a combined batting effort helped Malangs to score 90/5 in six overs and acquire a handy 35-run lead.

Opening batter Umar Bajwa remained the top-scorer for the Malangs in the first innings with a 16-ball 31, comprised of two fours and as many sixes.

Trailing by 35 runs, the Dabangs’ batting unit put on a decent show in the second innings as they amassed 100/4 in six overs to set Malangs a 66-run target.

Saqib Lefti top-scored for the Dabangs with a 12-ball 36, followed by skipper Taimoor Mirza, who made 29 off just nine deliveries.

Safi Ullah was the standout bowler for the Malangs in the second innings as well, taking two wickets for 25 runs in his quota of two overs.

For his match-winning performance, the right-arm pacer was adjudged the player of the match.

Chasing a modest 66-run target, the Malangs comfortably knocked the winning runs without losing a wicket and 17 balls to spare as their openers Imran Khan and Umar dominated the Dabangs’ bowling attack with swashbuckling knocks.

Imran scored an unbeaten 36 off 12 deliveries, while Bajwa made 28 not out from just eight balls.

The 10-wicket victory lifted Malangs to the second position in the KTPL Season 4 standings with four points in two matches, while the Dabangs sank to the bottom.
