JOHANNESBURG: Pakistan cricket team has departed from Johannesburg to Cape Town for the forthcoming One-Day International (ODI) series against South Africa, penciled in from December 17 to 22.

After a 2-0 defeat in the T20I series against the Proteas, the men in green are gearing to continue winning streak in the ODI format.

The first T20I, held at Kingsmead, saw South Africa’s 11-run victory.

The hosts posted a challenging total of 183/9, powered by explosive knocks from George Linde and David Miller.

Despite a solid fightback, Pakistan fell short in their chase.

Aiming to level the series, the Mohammad Rizwan-led side fell short again, this time while defending the target in the second T20I.

Set to chase 207, the home side knocked the winning runs through Rassie van der Dussen, who smashed a six off Abbas Afridi on the third delivery of the final over.

However, the third and final T20I between both teams at Wanderers Stadium was abandoned due to persistent rain, handing Proteas a 2-0 series victory.

The ODI series is scheduled to take place in Paarl, Cape Town and Johannesburg.

The T20I-bound Pakistani players including Abbas Afridi, Jahandad Khan, and Omair bin Yousaf are set to depart for Pakistan via Dubai this evening.
