Pakistan’s discarded wicketkeeper batter Azam Khan wrote a cryptic story while reacting to Saim Ayub’s blistering knock against South Africa in second T20I.

Taking to his Instagram account, the 26-year-old, who last played in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, wrote: “When you give players consistent chances, that’s when they truly have the opportunity to perform at their best."

Previously, the son of legendary wicketkeeper Moin Khan was rested in the T20 World Cup following below-par performances against debutant USA and in the T20I series against Ireland. The 26-year-old was trolled over his fitness as well as on-field performance.

Coming in as opener, Saim Ayub top-scored for Pakistan with a 57-ball 98, which featured 11 fours and five sixes.

His knock helped Pakistan post 207-run target against the Proteas.

Following his efforts, Reeza Hendricks scored a blistering century and powered South Africa to a seven-wicket victory which put Saim’s knock in vain.

Earlier in November, Saim impressed with the bat in the ODI series against Zimbabwe, also becoming second Pakistani batter after Shahid Afridi to score a century in less than 60 balls in 50-over format.

The seven-wicket victory helped South Africa clinch the three-match series 2-0 with a game to spare.

The third match is scheduled to take place today in Johannesburg.

With the T20I series concluding, both teams are scheduled to face each other in ODI series from December 17 to 22.
