The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the three-match T20I series against the West Indies, starting December 15, with Litton Kumar Das named as the new captain.
The decision comes as Bangladesh aim to rebuild following the retirements of stalwarts Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah.
The squad includes several returning players, such as Soumya Sarkar, Afif Hossain, Shamim Hossain Patwari, Nasum Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud and Ripon Mondol.
Najmul Hossain Shanto, who captained Bangladesh in their previous T20I series against India, is unavailable due to a groin injury sustained earlier during the tour.
Questions linger about whether Shanto will regain the captaincy upon his return, given his inconsistent performances in T20Is.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who led the side in Tests and ODIs on this tour, was not considered for the T20I captaincy due to his irregular appearances in the format.
Meanwhile, notable omissions from the squad include Towhid Hridoy, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, and Rakibul Hasan.
Bangladesh enters the T20I series amid a challenging white-ball campaign, having already lost the ODI series 2-0 against the West Indies with one match remaining.
The Test series ended in a 1-1 draw after Bangladesh staged a comeback with a 101-run win in the second match, following a 201-run defeat in the first.
