The day after renewing Luka Modric's contract, Real Madrid announced on Thursday that Lucas Vazquez will remain with the team for another season.
Vazquez's contract will run until 30 June 2025, after which he will complete his tenth season with the club.
The contract extension was finalised weeks ago, as the player began preparing for the season on Monday under the guidance of Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti.
However, it wasn't made official until Thursday, with the signing of the contract alongside Florentino Pérez at the Valdebebas Sports City offices.
Vazquez is set to continue for another season at Real Madrid following the 2023-2024 campaign, during which he played a significant role as Dani Carvajal's backup. His contributions were pivotal as Real Madrid clinched the Spanish Super Cup, La Liga, and the Champions League.
Across 38 matches and 1,784 minutes, he scored three goals and provided eight assists. His standout performance came in the second-leg Clasico against FC Barcelona, where he scored once and assisted twice.
He also started in another crucial match: the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals against Bayern Munich.
The Spanish player joined Real Madrid in 2007 at the age of 16 and progressed through all youth categories, from Juvenil C to Castilla in 2014. He was subsequently loaned to Espanyol before returning to Real Madrid, where he made a significant impact in La Liga.
During his nine seasons with Real Madrid, he has accumulated an impressive tally of 21 titles, including 5 Champions Leagues, 4 Club World Cups, 3 European Super Cups, 4 La Liga titles, 1 Copa del Rey, and 4 Spanish Super Cups.
In total, Vazquez has appeared in 349 matches for Real Madrid, scoring 36 goals. He has also represented the Spanish national team in nine games.
