New Zealand’s pacer Trent Boult confirmed that the T20 World Cup 2024 is his last tournament for the Black Caps in the shorter former as they are already out of the tournament after losing to Afghanistan and West Indies in their first two matches of the group stage,.

Boult, 34, is one of the finest performers in the tournament’s history as in 17 T20 World Cup matches, he bagged 32 wickets at an impressive economy of 6.07, which is the second best among the top 10 wicket-takers in T20 World Cups.

Boult talked to the press after New Zealand won their first match of the T20 World Cup against Uganda where he confirmed that this is his last T20 World Cup.

"Speaking on behalf of myself, this will be my last T20 World Cup," Boult told the media after the match against Uganda.

He also addressed his long partnership with Tim Southee, with whom he played in some of the tournaments like ODI World Cup 2015 and 2019 where New Zealand lost to Australia and England in the final respectively and others.

Boult felt that there would be some more opportunities to bowl with Southee, indicating to the 2025 Champions Trophy as he has not retired from ODIs so far.

"I look at the partnership with Tim with very fond memories," Boult said. "We bowled a lot of overs together. I know the partnership very well, and obviously he's a very good friend on and off the ground. It was nice to wind back the clock a little bit and see a bit of swing bowling at the top. Some great memories, and hopefully a couple more still to come."

With Boult set to quit T20Is, New Zealand will have to look for a new pacer who can potentially replace the 34-year-old.
