Pakistan are out of the T20 World Cup 2024 and faced immense backlash due to their poor performances in their first two games against the USA and India.

Babar Azam and Co. won against Canada and tried to keep their hopes alive to progress to the next round of the T20 World Cup 2024. Their win against Canada was not helpful as they batted cautiously and achieved the target of 107 in the 17.3 overs at the loss of three wickets.

Former Indian cricketer, Aakash Chopra has joined the ongoing criticism of Pakistan on his YouTube channel. He congratulated the USA team for qualifying and opened up on Pakistan’s lack of strong batters.

“If you look at Pakistan’s batting order, there is nothing in there. If you look at it from ODI cricket’s perspective then there is Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed and that is it. This is the only batting lineup without a striker of the ball. Yes, there is Rizwan and Babar but that’s it,” Chopra claimed.

He then went on to criticise Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim and Iftikhar, “Their batting order is a complete disorder. There is Shadab but he is not bowling well, there is Iftikhar but he is not scoring. They brought Imad out of retirement but he could not do anything.”

Chopra was also not impressed by Pakistan’s bowling display in the USA match. He claimed that they could have defended the 160 total against the USA instead they went on to lose the match in a super-over.

“Their bowling is still good but what can they do? They could have done something against the USA. A target of 160 was defendable. They could not defend it and went on to lose in the super over.”

He concluded by alerting Pakistan to think about their cricket condition, “Pakistan has a lot to think about. They have a lot of time to think.”

Pakistan depended on USA vs IRE result. They needed the USA to defeat Ireland. They needed to win by a significant margin against Ireland. However, the match between USA and Ireland was washed out due to rain on June 14 ending Pakistan’s hopes to continue onto the next round.

Pakistan will play one more game against Ireland on June 16 before they fly back home.
