World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) officially confirmed that former World Heavyweight Champion John Cena will begin his farewell tour in 2025 during the premiere episode of Raw on Netflix.
This highly anticipated episode will air on January 6, marking not only Cena's emotional departure but also the debut of Raw on Netflix, coinciding with WWE's first show of the new year.
WWE revealed on their social media handles that the Raw Netflix premiere, set at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, will serve as the first stop on Cena's farewell tour.
The 47-year-old, who made his WWE debut in 2002 in a memorable match against Kurt Angle, announced his plans to retire during the Money in the Bank event in July 2024.
Cena confirmed that 2025 will be his final year as a full-time WWE wrestler.
As part of his farewell, Cena is expected to make approximately 36 appearances across WWE events worldwide in 2025, giving fans a chance to witness his legacy one last time.
The star-studded farewell tour will include major events such as the Royal Rumble in February, the Elimination Chamber in March and WrestleMania 41 in April, with Cena concluding his tour by the end of the year.
Adding to the excitement, reports suggest Cena could make history during his farewell by overtaking Ric Flair’s record of 16 world championships.
Cena, who is currently tied with Flair, is rumoured to be in the running for a 17th world title, which would cement his place as the most decorated World Champion in WWE history.
According to PW Insider, WWE's creative team is reportedly exploring the possibility of a blockbuster showdown between John Cena and Cody Rhodes for the WWE Undisputed Championship as the headline match at WrestleMania 41.
