Punjab continued their remarkable momentum in the Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games 2024 by securing multiple gold medals across various sports.
The event's closing ceremony, scheduled for 1:30 PM today, will feature Rana Sanaullah, Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), as the chief guest.
The athletics competitions wrapped up with stellar performances from athletes in both men’s and women’s events, held at various venues of the Pakistan Sports Complex.
In the men’s category, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) emerged as the top performer with 12 medals, including five gold, three silver and four bronze.
Punjab closely followed with 11 medals, comprising five gold, three silver and three bronze.
Other provinces, including Balochistan, Sindh, Islamabad and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), contributed to the total medal tally of 33.
Muhammad Hasnain from Punjab stood out in the 100-meter race, clinching gold with a time of 11.10 seconds, followed by Atta Ullah from KP, who earned the silver medal.
Hasnain continued his dominance by winning the 200-meter race with a time of 22.52 seconds.
Ataullah of KP claimed gold in the 400-meter race, clocking in at 50.46 seconds, while Akram from Punjab secured victory in the 1500-meter race with a time of 4:05.63.
Punjab’s relay team, led by Ghulam Murtaza and Muhammad Hasnain, triumphed in the 4x100-meter relay, finishing with a time of 42.90 seconds.
KP’s athletes excelled in field events, with Bilal winning gold in the javelin throw and Wassi Ullah securing gold in the discus throw.
In the women’s events, Sindh dominated with seven medals, including four gold, one silver and two bronze.
Punjab followed closely with ten medals, comprising three gold, four silver and three bronze, contributing to a total of 27 medals in women’s athletics.
Sindh’s Iqra Riaz delivered exceptional performances, winning gold in both the 100-meter and 200-meter races with times of 13.07 seconds and 26.63 seconds, respectively.
Anaya Ahsan of Sindh excelled in the high jump event, claiming gold with a height of 1.43 meters.
Sindh’s relay team, featuring Iqra, Anaya, Alayna and Rania, secured gold in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 54.87 seconds.

The Kabaddi matches, held at the Amir Khan Boxing Hall, saw Punjab and KP emerging as dominant forces.
Punjab began their day with a walkover victory against Islamabad, while Sindh defeated Gilgit-Baltistan 72-58 in an exhilarating contest.
KP displayed their tactical precision by overpowering AJK with an emphatic 80-27 win.
They continued their winning streak with a 40-24 victory over Sindh, showcasing their agility and strong defence.
Punjab concluded the day with a commanding 55-11 win against Balochistan, demonstrating their kabaddi prowess.

The judo competitions brought thrilling action to the Amir Khan Boxing Hall, with athletes from Punjab and Balochistan dominating the men’s and women’s categories.
In the men’s events, Balochistan’s Maqsood Ahmed, Khan Noor, and Matti Ullah secured gold medals in the 50kg, 55kg and 60kg weight classes, respectively.
KP’s Huzaifa and Abdul Rehman also showcased exceptional talent, winning gold in the 66kg category and the open weight class. Sindh’s Muhammad Maaz Bin Mehmood rounded out the men’s champions with a gold medal in the 73kg category.
In the women’s judo competitions, Punjab asserted its dominance with three gold medals, thanks to stellar performances by Syeda Javeria (40kg), Hifza Iftikhar (52kg) and Aima Adnan (63kg).
KP’s Asfa Noor and Amna contributed two gold medals in the 48kg and 57kg categories, respectively.
Balochistan’s Saima claimed gold in the women’s open weight category, rounding out a series of thrilling contests.
